Laser Safety Management for the ORION High Intensity Laser Facility

The operational risks associated with the ORION laser facility are well understood and, through the ORION Safety Management Organisation, appropriate management arrangements are in place to underpin the engineered hazard control measures built in to the design of the facility. Collectively these arrangements ensure that the risks are controlled and remain As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).rnTo minimise human error probability, the ORION Facility Manager appoints Suitably Qualified Experienced Persons (SQEP individuals) to key safety positions with very specific terms of reference and accountabilities in the ORION Safety Management Organisation.
