Application of Information Filtering Technology in Digital Library

In the era of information economy, Digital Library plays a significant role in acquisition, organization, management, retrieval, and distribution of information. It is the destined goal for the development of the library. The final good of Digital Library is that all of users in anywhere at anytime can use any Internet-connected digital device to obtain the information they need. With widespread use of Digital Library, a large amount of information irrelevant to users' needs came to users, which resulted in information overload. However, information filtering technology can overcome the problems about over-information and can provide personalized information service for users. So this paper mainly discusses application of information filtering technology in Digital Library. The function of information filtering technology to Digital Library chiefly lies in personalized service of Digital Library. Through information filtering technology, Digital Library can integrate its distributed information resources to better serve users. This paper focus on the following issues: 1) introduce the concept of Digital Library and its construction of system briefly; 2) give an account of information filtering technology, and its classification; 3)establish a model of Digital Library on the ground of information filtering technology; 4)analyses the effect of application of information filtering technology in Digital Library further. Service is one of the most important functions of Digital Library, and the applicant information filtering technology can improve effect of service in Digital Library. Therefore, it is significant to introduce the information filtering technology to Digital Library. Information filtering technology will push the development of Digital Library ahead, enrich the functions of Digital Library.
