摘要

A sensor system has been developed for personal monitoring of industrial atmospheres containing enzymes. This has been made possible by the selection of a more sensitive chemistry than standard activity measurements, for which large volume air sampling is required. A sampling phase, in which enzyme is collected on an air filter, is followed by an optical analysis phase within a reader instrument. A key feature is the retention of the collection filter in the cartridge throughout, avoiding contamination or enzyme loss. Inclusion of reagents also simplifies the analysis step to simply inserting the complete cartridge into the instrument, allowing measurement by users without chemistry training.
