MASS TRANSPORT IN DISCONTINUOUS SOLID STATE PHASE TRANSFORMATIONS

The paper describes the details of the mass transport accompanying the discontinuous solid state reactions. In order to accomplish this, a technique of the analytical electron microscopy was used to measure the solute concentration profiles left behind the moving reaction front of single cells. Such an approach enabled, for the first time, the determination of local values of the diffusivity for the Al-Zn and Ni-Sn systems.
