Problems concerning the formation of coatings composed of the carbides of the metals of Ⅳ- Ⅴgroups on carbon and Nicalon~(TM) fiber under the conditions of chemical transport through the gas phase in the metal―carbon (or carbon-containing support) - halogen systems are considered. Thermodynamic calculations for the Ta―C―Cl system are performed for temperature and total pressure wide intervals. Chemical reactions are considered which proceed in the zone of metal and fiber disposition.
