Transport of the reactants and intermediate products plays a key role in the formation of the product microstructure during Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) process. As a rule, these transport phenomena proceeds through partially or totally melted or evaporated elements and compounds. Examples of different mechanisms of fluid transport are considered from the viewpoint of its influence on the product microstructure.
