A Study of Influence on Consumer Market of Automobile due to Status Quo of Residents Income Gap

In recent years, with the rapid development of China's automotive industry, the changes of product structure are becoming more rational. For instance, proportion of cargo vehicles is gradually reducing; in the meantime the growing proportion of passenger vehicles is getting closer to the structure of the developed country. Is it possible that this trend of prosperity of the automotive industry can be sustainable? From the dimension that Chinese present income gap influences on the market, this article makes a quantitative analysis on the influence of income gap to possession quantity of vehicles. And it shows that although the development of China's auto industry is still maintaining a relatively fast speed, as the growing income gap makes a greater impact on the upgrade of the medium and low-income residents product structure which results in the reduction of the future possession quantities of automobile in china and the speed of development of auto industry, the income gap is again becoming the bottleneck the auto industry development. Therefore, appropriate measures should be taken to decrease the income gap and promote the rapid and steady growth of the automotive industry.
