The description of electronic image acquisition is simplified by using the functional unit of impulse driven working memory (IDWM). The operation of IDWM is an intermittent impulsive reaction as follows. That is, if a pat-tern of positive impulses represents an image of thing, it can be memorized in a pattern of points connected. If the resting potential of the circuit is negative, the circuit is able to decode the same pattern of positive impulses at an instant. On the other hand, the pattern of impulses for the visual information is held in the same pattern of loops temporally. The image in the short-term memories transits from an original image to the extended image in accordance with impulses those come from the external world together with the memorized image. Here, the image of object and the Images of background are activated concurrently. The partially overlapped pattern-matching by means of the intermittent impulsive operations of IDWM in this system makes possible to design the device for a visual perception.
