A Fast Address Generation Scheme for Radix 4 FFT Processor

摘要

In FFT processor, operands and twiddle factors address generator plays an important role. It directly affects the operational speed, chip area and power consuming of FFT processor. A simple and fast address generation scheme is proposed in this paper, according to the characteristics of radix 4 FFT algorithm. Through reducing the access of twiddle factors, this new address generation scheme can lower FFT processor power consuming. Meanwhile, the address generation scheme for variable size FFT processor is also proposed in this paper. This address generation scheme has been adopted in a VLSI design of FFT processor.
