摘要

In this paper it is has been discussed how the EMS functions can be used for Optimal dispatch in a multi utility environment with hierarchical control centres. The coordinated power system operation helps different operators to take suitable control actions to maintain the system away from critical state. Presently in the absence of Modern Software tools, the operators are using only their experience for load dispatch. However this mode lack coordinated control and is subjective in nature. The growth in the Indian power system has reached a state where use of modern software tools such as EMS software by operators are a necessity to maintain quality of supply and improve security and economy of the system.
