摘要

More than one third of the total over 84,000 dams in China are defective dams. Both the Central Government and local governments have greatly increased investment in the reinforcement of defective dams. Structural health monitoring is the key to inspection of the reinforcement effects, dam safety assessment and regulation operation for defective dams. It is surveyed that most of defective dams are in shortage of structural health monitoring which is in need of being established urgently. Presented in the paper are existing situation of defective dams, contents of dam safety assessment, classification of dam safety, principles and contents of structural health monitoring design for defective dams.
