The paper presents results from a 2D simulation of a CFB cold model. The simulation is conducted with Fluent6.1.22 using a new simple model for the gas-solid drag force. The general fluidization characteristics shown by the simulation are qualitatively correct. Axial solids holdup profiles and lateral voidage and velocity profiles are similar to the measured ones. Fluctuations in solids velocity and concentration are as expected. Additional simulations are conducted to test the usability of the drag model in a wider range of cases.
