摘要

The shaking effects of sediments and reclamations in Hong Kong induced by distant earthquakes have been presented. The analysis employs the newly developed Frame Analogy Soil Amplification (FASA) model, which accounts (in a simplified manner) for the effects of soil resonance, impedence contrast at the interface of soil and bedrock, non-linear hysteresis soil damping and the degradation of shear modulus. The engineering implications of seismic soil resonance, with particular reference to the displacement response criterion, have been highlighted. The accuracy and convenience of the method that is particularly suitable for practising engineers in Hong Kong have been demonstrated.
