This paper compares the performances of two vibration-powered piezoelectric electrical generators, the first one using a PMN-PT single crystal and the second one using a ceramic. Both piezoelectric inserts have same dimensions and same composition. They are connected to different nonlinear processing techniques, so called SSHI and SECE techniques, recently developed for improving the effectiveness of piezoelectric energy harvesting devices. Theoretical and experimental results show that single crystal harvests 20 times more power than the ceramic. Moreover, the most effective nonlinear power management interface increases the generators powers by factors above 8 compared to the standard power interface.
