Reliable Structural Damage Assessment Using Energy Density Spectra

The proposed damage index based on energy has been shown to have great advantages over other damage indices in assessing structural damages due to earthquake excitations. However, further research is necessary in defining the exact form of the proposed damage index, such as the weighting parameters of structural response portion and energy dissipation portion in the proposed damage index need to be further refined.
