Simultaneous Modelling of Multiple Disease Transmission Routes

Classically, disease transmission is considered to occur between people through the airborne, contact and droplet routes. Some diseases are transmitted through multiple routes, and expo-sures may occur through multiple routes simultaneously. Multi-route exposures can be mod-eled explicitly by tracking the movement of the microorganism from the source, through the environment to the susceptible person. This presentation reviews four classes of models used to estimate exposure to pathogens and infection.
