A field experiment was conducted to find the most suitable way of fertilization in the cultivation of turfgrass (Festuca arundinacea) before transplanting, in which exponential fertilization technique was applied. The exponential fertilization increased the biomass accumulation and the N concentration and content per seedling in the turfgrass as much as 32%, 35% and 70%, respectively, as compared to the traditional methods, while the amount of fertilizer used in the exponential fertilization was only 57% of that in the traditional one. We concluded that turfgrass fertilized by exponential technique can reach the highest growth rate and the optimum nutrition status with less fertilizer applied.
