Geosynthetic reinforcements—membrane drawn type, warp/knitted type, junctionbonded type and composite type geogrids, strip type reinforcement—are used to comparethe long-term performance by total factor of safety with reduction factors during serviceperiods. To evaluate the reduction factors, wide-width tensile property, installation damage, creep deformation, chemical and biological degradation tests were performed. Total factorsof safety for geosynthetic reinforcements were analyzed through the results of thesereduction factors. Long-term design strengths of geosynthetic reinforcements were calculatedfrom the constitutive equations of GRI standard Test Method GG4. Reduction factor of creepdeformation mainly influenced the long-term performance. Strip type reinforcement andcomposite type geogrid showed the excellent long-term performance among geosyntheticreinforcements to be used in this study.
