This paper considers the temperature control problem of a water bath system. Here, Internal Model Control (IMC), a model based control technique is employed to meet the control objective. The water bath system is being modeled as Integer & Non-integer order model based on its open loop experimental data. Both these models are then used to obtain two different IMC controller, implemented in real time using LabVIEW environment respectively. Various experimental results prove the supremacy of IMC based on non-integer order model over integer order, as the former one captures the real system dynamics more efficiently than later one.
