摘要

A Passive Residual Heat Removal System is modeled andconnected to a complete EDF 900 MWe PWR reactor. Thismodeling is done using the thermal hydraulic code CATHARE.This system is the Secondary Condensing System (SCS). Theapplication of the single failure criterion, leads to choosing aconfiguration with one SCS and one pool per secondary loop.The chosen design transient is plant blackout, with totalunavailability of the auxiliary SG feedwater system (AFSS).This accident leads to core meltdown with high primarypressure.The Cathare results show the efficiency of the complete SCS (3loops) in passively cooling the primary circuit. Residual heat istotally removed. Core meltdown is avoided.From a safety point of view, computations with 2 availableSCSs show that the mission is correctly fullfiled.Finally, the study shows that the SCS can work and remove theresidual power, even with a strongly reduced SG waterinventory.
