Integrity Probe: Using Programmer as Root of Trust for Bare Metal Blockchain Crypto Terminal. Invited Paper

摘要

This paper introduces the concept of using programmers as root of trust, for bare metal terminals, such as blockchain crypto terminals. When electronics devices are delivered through non trusted supply chains, there is a risk of malware injection. Bare metal architecture defeats these threats, but raises the issue of programmer integrity insurance. We propose to use innovative integrity probe software whose goal is to detect malicious bootloader thanks to which they are downloaded in the programmer memory.
