Improving the performance and energy efficiency of elevators by direct-landing elevator position control system

The efforts for achieving the highest possible efficiency and performance of elevators have become a fundamental field of research in the elevator world. To now, there have been reported a number of theoretical and experimental researches finding out alternative solutions to improve both the efficiency and performance of elevators. The use of advanced control systems, such as direct-landing elevator position control (EPC) system, is one of the promising research fields to improve both performance and efficiency of elevators. In this work, both traditional elevator control system with step-change landing method (STD) and the advanced elevator position control system with direct-landing method (EPC) were investigated through a number of graphical analyses of motion patterns on a test elevator. In the end, time and energy implications of EPC control system were itemized with respect to any achievements, advantages, and expected positive contributions to elevator users, project and building owners.
