The Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers (CITE), with the assistance of IBIrnGroup, has developed a guidebook to help municipalities and the land developmentrnindustry better design non-residential development sites to promote accessibility byrntravel modes other than the single-occupant vehicle (SOV). Promoting SustainablernTransportation Through Site Design, which was published as an Institute ofrnTransportation Engineers (ITE) proposed Recommended Practice in January 2005, alsornidentifies a range of supporting actions and policies that jurisdictions can introduce torncreate an atmosphere conducive to sustainable transportation initiatives.rnThis paper provides an overview of the report and describes the guidelines in morerndetail.
