After the analysis of design process of mechanical products,rnthe paper pointed out that the structure design is the key ofrnthe connection between conceptual design and detail designrnprocess. The paper introduced a method that based onrnconceptual information knowledge unit for structure design ofrnproducts. It defined knowledge unit and structure unit, andrnencapsulation of conceptual information into knowledgern(structure) unit to realize the information interconnection andrndrive mechanism from conceptual design to structure designrnthus making knowledge structure unit become the mainrncarrier representing product design knowledge; expressedrndesign rules and design knowledge based on knowledge unitsrnto establish knowledge library of product design; and thenrnexpressed different mechanic structure through combinationrnand variation of knowledge (structure) units during the designrnprocess to realize product design; finally, analyzed thernstructure features of multi-cavity injection mold systemsrn(from 1-cavity mold to multi-cavity mold), and expressed thernmold structure by knowledge units, based on which thernmethod of multi-cavity plastic injection mold system designrnwas realized.
