A baseline is essential for successful long-term monitoring ofrnstructural integrity based on vibration measurement. It isrnestablished by updating a structural analysis model basedrnon measured vibration data. In this study, stochasticrnoptimization techniques including the genetic algorithm,rnsimulated annealing, and tabu search, were applied tornestablish a baseline model for an instrumented new highwayrnbridge, by updating a preliminary finite element structuralrnanalysis model based on measured vibration data.rnParametric studies were performed to determine heuristicrnparameters associated with the three stochastic techniques.rnSimulation analysis was performed to compare thernperformance of these techniques. Using these techniques,rnthe preliminary model of the bridge was successfullyrnupdated to a baseline based on measured vibration data.
