Deep Space Network has different characteristics than the terrestrial network (I.e. long delay, intermittentrnconnectivity, high bit error rate, asymmetric bandwidth). Due to the extreme conditions and limited resources, it isrnimportant to choose a path that is energy efficient, reliable and fast. Most routing algorithms determine the best pathrnbased on a single objective. In our multi-criteria routing approach, each route has a set of criteria and correspondingrnweights that are assigned by the Decision Maker based on the importance of each criterion for a specific mission.rnThe multi-criteria routing approach determines the best available route that is pareto-optimal.
