Understanding the Use of Communications and InformationTechnology in Manufacturing: Puerto Rico Case Study

This paper presents a statistically robust assessment to evaluate the use of real-time data collection and reportingrnsystems on the shop-floor of Puerto Rico manufacturers. The assessment requested the productivity metrics in usernand the results achieved during the years 2000 and 2002. The variety of productivity metrics and the few numericrnresponses signal that there is lack of standardization and little interest in sharing productivity results.
