POLYESTER TECHNICAL YARNS- A PRODUCER'S PERSPECTIVE

High tenacity polyester terephthalate (PET) filament yarns are the most common fiber material in today's technical textiles. PET is a low cost polymer and its fiber properties can be tuned for a wide variety of technical textile applications. PET technical yarn producers continue new developments to meet emerging industry requirements. New products include heterofil, hybrid, flame-resistant, airbag, and polyethylene naphthalate yarns. Yarn properties and applications for these new materials are presented.
