Case study of the social impact of flood

摘要

Typhoon hits Japan every year. Its rainfall usually does not continue long period but comes up to big amount. In the case mentioned in this paper it rained for only 30 hours, but total rainfall was 600mm. A bank of a small river which is one of the tributaries of the Tone River, near Tokyo and the longest in Japan, was broken and 29 km~2 was flooded. Several natural and social phenomena that reflect recent urgbanization were observed.
