In this paper, the author considers the changing conditions aboard modern ships, and suggests that the MARS and CHIRP reporting schemes are vital in ensuring that young seafarers can learn from the mistakes of others, before they run the risk of repeating those mistakes themselves.rnThe paper discusses the reporting schemes in detail and suggests that everyone involved in the shipping industry canrncontribute to their success.
