A Dynamic Study on the J Aggregation of Imidazolocyanine Dyes

A dynamic study on the J-aggregations of imidazolocyanine dyes is given. 1,1 ' --diethyl --3,3'―bissulfopropyl―5,5' ,6,6'―tetrachlor oimidazolocyanine sodium salt (Dye 1) is used in this work. A solution of Dye 1 in chloroform is used for UV-VIS spectra measurement with different time duration. The absorption peak (M) of monomeric Dye 1 is 529nm, while the absorption peak (J) of its J-aggregate is between 566.48nm and 587.2nm for differential temperatures or concentrations. It is found, that peak (M) drops down rapidly at the beginning of the solution preparation, and beyond that period it drops slightly; consequently, peak (J) rapidly rises up in the preliminary time and then continues with a slight rise So that, the aggregation of Dye 1 can be characterized as a dynamic process. Temperature, solvent and concentration of its solution evidently effect the dynamic process of the aggregation Imidazolocyanines dyes other than Dye I have also Been studied.
