The Nordic Timber Bridge Project and the Norwegian Approach to Modern Timber Bridge Design

摘要

The Nordic Timber Bridge Project has promoted the interest in constructing timber bridges and to regard wood as an alternative to steel and concrete in the Nordic countries. This paper reports on the organisation, funding and some results from the project. This paper reports also on some of the solutions, which have been developed in order to obtain sufficient service life by examples from timber bridges in Norway. Further more, it shows to what a significant extent timber, is adopting in Norway as a bridge constructions material.
