Naval vehicle's vulnerability and the dynamic response to underwater attack is of great concern by naval designer. One of the difficulties in calculating the responses of a naval vehicle to underwater explosion is to deal with the problem of fluid-structure interaction. Nowadays the acoustic materials are widely used in naval vehicle and the shock responses of acoustic structure are widely concerned. In this paper, a modified DAA method (ADAA method) is developed which is based on the acoustic wave's transmission and reflection theory and can be used to analyze the interaction between the underwater shock wave and the ship hull with acoustic layer, or made of acoustic material, the acoustic impedance of which is of the same order as water. Cooperated with FEM method, the ADAA method is used to analyze the responses of a rectangular GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) plate to underwater explosion, and an obviously different result of ADAA method to traditional DAA method is obtained.
