Bed sediments-water column interaction is a key mechanism in water qualityrnmodeling for environmental contaminants; in fact, there substances could bernpartitioned into two different forms, dissolved and particulate, i.e. associated withrnsolid matter in the water column and in the bed sediments. Therefore, their final faterndepends on solids transport phenomena such as deposition, resuspension andrnburial, whose rates should be properly estimated in order to obtain a reliable resultsrnin modeling effort. The paper proposes the application of a model for burial velocityrnestimation; the model has been successfully applied to data field of Venice lagoon.rnKeywords: Bed sediments-water column interaction; environmental contaminants;rnenvironmental hydraulics; transport phenomena; burial velocity.
