Factors which affect the viability of small hydro power projects are discussed. Theserninclude the susceptibility of projects to flooding, sedimentation and availability ofrnhead. Storage can be a major cost particularly in semi-arid environments. Of lesserrnimportance are load factor, distance to electrical grid and flow volume.
