The paper investigates the adequacy of computing flow in compound channel withrnone-dimensional models in areas where the water surface presents two-dimensionalrnaspects. Experimental results are presented for water profiles reaching the criticalrndepth at their downstream section and two-dimensional features are depicted. Waterrnprofiles are then computed using classical methods but also a corrected method (thernExchange Discharge Model) taking into account the momentum transfer inrncompound channels. Comparison shows the accuracy of the Exchange DischargernModel in the upstream area of the profiles. Modifications of the downstreamrncondition are needed in order to model also accurately the downstream part of thernprofile.
