The Balanced Scorecard is a performance measurement and management system evolvedrnin the 1990s, which helps in mapping the performance with the business outcomes. ThernBalanced scorecard approach helps in increasing the process efficiency, reducing thernprocess cost, benchmarking the performance and improving the mission effectiveness.rnThe Software Process Improvement initiatives are continuous in nature, focused to meetrnthe organizational goals, and measured. The Balanced Scorecard is a strategicalrnmanagement approach and a communication mechanism for formulating, transmittingrnand agreeing on the strategy of an organization, facilitating the alignment ofrnimprovement initiatives with the overall strategic business plan and the elaboration of arncomprehensive and balanced strategic measurement system.rnThis paper talks about the software process improvement initiatives and the balancedrnscorecard approach, for better focused strategy management for software organizations,rnquantifying processes, identifying the process improvement candidates and ascertainingrnthe return on investments on the process improvement initiatives.
