Amount of information on the Web is growing rapidly as well as the no of new users inexperienced in the art of Web research. It is estimated to contain approximately one billionpages of publicly accessibly information and it continued to grow at an exponential rate, tripling in size over the past two years. A Search Engine helps to overcome these problems and navigate through the Internet and get the information that we require quickly and accurately A large number of search engines are available today with varying features and capabilities. These include general search engine, Search directories, Meta search engines and the Intelligent search engines. In it's basic form, a search engine matches a user query with web site indices. Almost all search a database of the full text of web pages selected from billions of web pages out there residing on servers. We always search a somewhat stale copy of the real web page while searching with search engines. Search Engines normally use an automated program called spider or robot to perform its task. The most common problem with the current search engines is the lack of relevancy of the results. Also, they produce large number of results matching a query. A Part of Solution to these problems lies in the design of intelligent search engines, which normally involve the AI techniques. Among these techniques is the natural language approach and the use of lexical databases. One such approach has been introduced.
