Network security is playing a key role for implementing WorldwidernCommunication across many platforms. At present several security techniques likerncryptography, firewalls and tunneling mechanisms have been utilized for implementingrnsecure communication. In this paper a security analysis of the asymmetric key basedrnRSA algorithm is undertaken. The security of this algorithm depends on the factorizationrnof public component into prime numbers. The factorization time depends on therncomputing power and size of the key. The factorization of public component for differentrnprocessor speed and key size are analyzed. It is observed that as a function of the key size,rnthe MIPS rating year has a linear dependence.
