In this paper, a recycling type filtration machine by means of solid-liquid automation separation system for machining fluids for machining and/or ultra-precision machining by using water of water-soluble machining is reported. The first point of this study is the development of the filtering medium. The filtering medium can be prepared by mixing phenolic resin with polyvinyl alcohol by approximately 2:1. Add acid for a catalyst, formaldehyde for a cross-linking agent and pore forming agent, and obtained polyvinyl formal PVF composition with fine and continuous pores. This PVF composition is used as the filtering medium. The developed cylindrical shape cartridge type filtering medium composition was patented and specifically applied for this filtering machine. The second point of this study is the filtering machine equipped with the cylindrical filtering medium which is designed and developed with combining some functions, such as, rotating continuous filtering system, a vacuum system, a gravitation sedimentation system and a floating separation system. Some of the evaluated results of the completed filtration machine of regeneration circulation typefor machining fluids are described as follows. 1. By using the developed filtration machine, the regeneration circulation filtration at 1/10 to 1/100 cost of the conventional cartridge filter medium type machine can be achieved. 2. The regulation circulation filtering machine has the ability of 0.5 ppm in machining fluid concentration, 99.99% in supplement efficiency, 0.1 μ m in average particle size of the supplement and 5l/m in filtration flow rate. 3. The machining fluis life is drastically postponed by the filtration, and machining accuracy and efficiency can be maintained stably and long-term.
