Clean coal technology "IGCC" (Integrated Gasification in Combined Cycle) of electrical power generation is different than conventional process in combustible treatment which give rise to coal combustion products (CCPs) with singular properties. Gasification generates inorganic wastes in the form of glassy slag and fly ash. We have studied the recycling of fly ash coming from ELCOGAS IGCC power plant in Puertollano (Ciudad Real, Spain).The addition of this new kind of fly ash to a medium plasticity clay, induces on heat treated at 900℃ a better sintering of the paste and consequently an improvement of absorption, saturation and mechanical properties of the fired bodies, with no negative effects on shrinkage, colour alteration or efflorescence. On contrast, fly ash does not mend the excessive shrinkage on firing when added to a highly plastic clay.
