摘要

most of the theory of fractal compression is independent of the type of signal under consideration, or can easily be adapted to hold for almost any kind of signal we may encounter in practice. Despite this, there have been very few attempts to design and test fractal coders for other classes of signals than grey tone or color images, -for which there actually eists a number of more established methods (e.g.subband coding) that perform as good as-or better than-existing fractal coders.
