We present preliminary results from a scheme that encodes video sequences of digital image data. Based on a still-image fractal encoding method, the scheme encodes each frame using image pieces from its predecessor. We present results showing near real-time (5-12 frames/sec) software-only deconding; resolution independence; high compression ratios (25:1-244:1); and low compression times (2.4-66 sec/frame) as compared with standard still-image fractal schemes. More information of various fractal schemes can be found at th WWW site "http://inls.ucsd.edu/y/Fractals/".
