Granulation, characteristics of sintering and environmental issues were studied to find favorable conditions for sintering operation with high mix ratio of recycled materials. Under the condition of optimum moisture content, sintering productivity increased as sintering time decreased. The cold strength of sinter decreased as recycled materials increase. With the increase of recycled materials content, SOx and dust emissions were increased. In the case of manufacturing mini-pellet, dust emission was more reduced than using the fine recycled materials itself. Through the testing of specially prepared pellets, it was shown that SOx and dust emissions can be reduced by careful pellet design.
