The rapid development of the aerospace, petrochemical, medical, metallurgy industries needs increasingly pumps for delivering low-capacity high-head liquids. For examples, a set of benzene sulfonate installation needs 40 pumps; A set of city coal gasification installation needs 54 pumps, it's 45% of the total pump number; A set of 250,000 ton/year carbon-5 production line needs 31 pumps; A set of 40,000 ton /year polypropylene production line needs 12 pumps and a set of hydroforming installation needs 30 pumps. In these pumps for low-capacity high-head liquids, centrifugal pump and reciprocating pump take magnificent roles, so this paper analyses and compares these two kinds of pumps for the reference of users using them.
