摘要

Impact of sharpunti (Puntius goniontus) in polyculture with Indian major carps was investigated for a period of over three months from June to September 1994 in earthen ponds at Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. The addition of sharpunti significantly increased overall pond production, although it depressed the growth rates of the Indian major carps, rohu (Labeo rohita), catla (Catla catla), and mrigal (Cirrhinus mrigala). The addition of duck-weed to the culture system did not significantly compensated the impact of sharpunti on the polyculture and had no significant effect on overall fish production.
