Industrial wastewater containing toxic compounds are of great concern regarding its disposal to the environment. Micellar enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF) has its important role in removing low molecular size inorganic metals and organics. In this study, chromate and cetylperidinium chloride (CPC) removal from wastewater was evaluated using MEUF and activated carbon fibre (ACF) hybrid processes. For the efficient chromate removal, molar concentration of CPC should be five times that of chromate and it should be at least one critical micelle concentration (CMC). Chromate removal from MEUF was over 97% and CPC was ranged from 50% to 70% with larger pore size membrane of molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of 100 KD. By the addition of ACF unit, chromate and CPC removal increased to 99.8%. MEUF was found to be effective in chromate removal while ACF in CPC adsorption to produce chromate and CPC free effluent. Based on the regression analysis, validity of the experimental result was well defined by power and exponential functional relationship of effluent chromate concentration with the other independent variables such as pH, initial chromate concentration, molar ratio and initial CPC concentrations.
