Landfill, which remains as the major disposal method today in Beijing, China, is in the face of several critical problems including serious pollution and land waste. Therefore, it is essential to enhance buried waste reprocessing and the reusability of the landfill plant. Fundamental research on anaerobic degradation law of municipal solid waste in a landfill plant was carried out. According to the principle of different landfill time and different landfill depth, samples of municipal solid waste in landfill were taken. Parameters of pH, moisture content, total organic carbon (TOC), total nitrogen (TN) and C/N ratio were analyzed. These parameters can provide theoretical evidence for predictions of organic-matter degradation of municipal solid waste. Landfill settlement and stabilization can provide advice on administration and utilization of the landfill in the future.
