AVIRIS (Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer), first imaging sensor to measurernthe solar reflected spectrum from 400 nm to 2500 nm at 10 nm interval, was brought tornArgentina in the Low Altitude Platform version. The AVIRIS Argentina Campaign was arnsuccessful mission and it continues to give fruitful output. After 120 flight hours the teamrnsucceeded to perform 108 flight lines, and 45 objectives were observed in quite differentrnplaces in Argentina. The data started arriving and the struggle to process and analyze themrnis the concern of several teams today.rnThis campaign has been a big production effort, taking the airborne instrument to mostrnplaces in Argentina covering a wild variety of local problems. To acquire data for therncalibration of some of the instruments flown in EO-1 (Hyperion and ALI) and in SAC-Crn(MMRS), Argentine as well as American colleagues deployed several experiments. Tornthese purposes we went to the field on Barreal Blanco and Salar de Arizaro. More thanrntwenty investigators from the Science Validation Team of EO-1, were on the field duringrnthe campaign, characterizing the field reflectance during the overpasses of AVIRIS, EO-1rnor SAC-C. An equal amount of local investigators were also on the field from thernArgentine part. The results of the interactions of these groups with local groups fromrnuniversities or institutions who have agreements with CONAE will be presented earlyrnNovember this year in an "EO-1 and SAC-C Calibration campaign" meeting to be held inrnBuenos Aires.
