Taniguchi memorial lecture 'an historical account of professor norio taniguchi'

Prof. Norio Taniguchi received the B.Eng. degree in Precision Engineering and the Dr. Eng. degree from the University of Tokyo (National University), Tokyo, Japan, in 1936 and 1957, respectively. He became a professor of Yamanashi Technical College in Mechanical Engineering in 1940 and a professor of Yamanashi University in 1953. He started his research on the mechanisms of machining processes of hard and brittle materials, such as jewels, precious stones, optical glasses, quartz crystals, silicon crystals and ceramics in 1940, just after the onset of the Second World War. His research resutls were published as his first book entitled "Machining of Hard and Brittle Materials" in Japanese.
